PORTRAIT’S
HEMSLEY ROAD STUDIO
( YALLINGUP )
Building on the concept of a hi - end photo booth, sitters are invited to enter the large scale booth where portraits are made.
This Body of work is part of an ongoing Pop Up series by Australian Artist, Dylan Le’Mon.
Over the past few years I’ve set up a number of portrait studio’s throughout Western Australia, Regional Victoria and Addis Ababa ( Ethiopia ). Ethiopia , more specifically, was a volunteered project collaborating with an Australian funded NGO “Hope For Children” which has established a primary and secondary school in Addis Ababa. In this project we made portraits of all the students in a DIY Portrait studio, as well as family portraits at a number of student homes. Images from this series exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery of Australia and the Museum of Australian Photography.
I say all of this, as now I have turned my focus to creating a high-end Portable Portrait Studio that will travel and continue to offer Portraits to students around the world, as well as various other projects. We will travel to India in July where the, currently nameless, studio will begin its journey. The studio that will be constructed will be a portable room that will replicate the natural light that this studio at Hemsley Road Offers. So the images that we make in this studio are extremely important to designing the images that will made inside the Portable studio. All images are made on Analog film, from a beautiful 1957 Twin lens Rollie-Flex.
This residency is self-funded and the contributions made by sitters will be going towards the construction of the Studio, So I can’t thank you enough for engaging with his series, with this project and with this dream <3
Each sitting will begin with tea, then we will work through two compositions, seated and standing. You will receive all the images made from this sitting, with two images selected as finals that will go through post production.
Each sitting will begin at $100.00 with additional costs if you would like more finals images or different compositions.
If you would like to contact me to engage with the project in a different way, please get in touch with me.
